Block Party


WBAA, Public Radio from Purdue, has won a 2015 Edward R. Murrow Award.

Winners of the awards, presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association, or RTDNA, were announced Thursday.

The winning entry, “Purdue Block Party,” aired on WBAA November 18, 2014. The story was written and produced by Kristin Malavenda.

WBAA's Murrow entries were judged against stories produced by radio stations in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio.

The Purdue volleyball team plays its final home match of the season tomorrow night at 7 against Rutgers.

The Boilermakers are ranked 16th in the nation with a record of 21-7.

Hundreds of students show up to every home match.

Known as the Block Party, many consider the enthusiastic student section to be the Boilermakers' secret weapon.
