Update 2/20/17: Adam Bodony will join the faculty as Assistant Professor of Bands beginning fall 2017. Bodony will serve as the director of the Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras and oversee the department’s Applied Music program.

Two opportunities to celebrate the holiday season with the Bach Chorale Singers and the Lafayette Children's Choir in sacred and secular music in this weekend at First Baptist Church. WBAA's John Clare spoke to director Leann Starkey about the programs.

Lafayette Children's Choir

WBAA's John Clare recently spoke with the Lafayette Children's Choir's Director Leeann Starkey about the next LCC concert, Saturday afternoon at 4 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ.

The Bach Chorale Singers perform this Saturday evening, October 15th, at St. John’s Episcopal Church. On the program are German works, by Brahms, Mendelssohn, and Bach. Conductor Michael Bennett says the program represents love, both sacred and secular.  WBAA’s John Clare spoke to Bennett about “Brahms - Liebeslieder Walzer” in the WBAA studios.

Bach Chorale Singers 2/21 Concert Preview

The Bach Chorale Singers perform this Sunday afternoon, February 21st, at St. John’s Episcopal Church. On the program are two early cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach: Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen (Weeping, lamenting, worrying, fearing), BWV 12; and Christ lag in Todes Banden (Christ lay in death's bonds), BWV 4.

The Bach Chorale Singers will be in performance twice this weekend: their "Let There Be Peace" concert takes place Saturday, December 12th at 7:30 p.m. followed by the annual "Candlelight, Lessons and Carols" program Sunday, December 13th at 4:30 p.m. Both concerts are at First Baptist Church, 411 N. 5th Street in Lafayette. A member of the chorale, Karl Brandt, previews the concerts with WBAA's Jan Simon.

Bach Chorale Singers Oct. 11th Concert Preview

The Bach Chorale Singers will begin a new season of concerts Friday evening with a well-loved choral work by Mozart.

A wide range of American musical traditions will be presented Saturday evening at the Bach Chorale Singers' "Voices of America" concert.

Haydn's Oratorio "The Seasons", which celebrates nature and country life throughout the year, will be performed by the Bach Chorale Singers and Orchestra Sunday afternoon at the Long Center.
