TSC adopts teacher evaluation model

The Tippecanoe School Corporation has a new model for evaluating educators.

The district board agreed to a set of standards for assessing teacher performance.

Indiana is requiring all districts to adopt an evaluation standard.

The state’s version is called RISE.

Assistant Superintendent Susan DeLong says while T-S-C’s model falls in line with state standards, it’s tailored more specifically to the needs of the corporation.

Corporations can use the state version, an adapted version, or their own model which is subject to review.

TSC’s standard is based 60-percent on professional practice, 30-percent on standard learning activities, and 10-percent on educator development goals.

Principals will do six classroom evaluations of each teacher every school year.
