Tippecanoe County’s new juvenile court judge received the oath of office from her predecessor.
Judge Faith Graham was appointed to fill the vacancy left by Loretta Rush, who now serves on the Indiana Supreme Court.
Graham says it was an honor to be sworn in by Rush and have so many members of the legal community at Monday's ceremony.
"CASAs, the Department of Child Services, Probation, Prosecutor's office, Public Defender's office, just everbody across the board has been really supportive. I'm really happy to see that they're behind me. It takes an army of youth professionals to keep a court going, especially a court like this."
Rush says she’s confident Graham is up for the job. She also told those in attendance to keep helping Graham as they helped her since 1998.
Graham, who was appointed to the position last month by Governor Mitch Daniels, says the court is on the right path.
"We're very progressive. We have a lot of initiatives going right now and I'm going to go forward with those. There might be one or two things I change, but no broad, sweeping changes right away."
Graham says she wants to build upon the successes so far, and continue the progress.
