Ask The Mayor: Lafayette's Tony Roswarski On Faith Church's Money And LGBT Rights

Lafayette Mayor's Office

Earlier this week, the Lafayette City Council passed a controversial ordinance amendment offering additional protections to transgender residents.

But should the discussion have been allowed to go as far as it did?

This week on Ask The Mayor, we put this question to Lafayette’s Tony Roswarski: If a group is being disruptive to a public discussion and doesn’t appear to have data to back up its claims, when is it OK to shut that group out, no matter how many of them there are or how loud they become?

Also on this week’s show, a question from a listener about the city’s relationship with Faith Church.

Mayor Roswarski has said such partnerships are one of the few sources of new building revenue the city has. But are the practices, beliefs and actions of its partner agencies vetted first?
