The Purdue Board of Trustees has approved performance metrics for determining a portion of the president's salary.

Under the plan, board members will evaluate Mitch Daniels on student affordability, graduation rates, fundraising, student success and university excellence. Those categories are weighted, with fundraising being the biggest determinant at 30%, affordability and graduation rates are 25% each, while the remaining two criteria are 10% each.

Most Purdue students studying on the West Lafayette campus won’t pay more for their education next year. In fact, administrators say thousands will pay less.

The Board of Trustees Executive Committee approved freezing tuition and most fees. The plan also includes a reduction in the campus meal plan and fees for summer internships and co-ops.

President Mitch Daniels says those two things add up to $3.5 million dollars and are just as important as tuition costs.

A member of the Purdue Board of Trustees says the process of hiring a new university president is on track.

Mike Berghoff is chairing the 13 member search committee looking for the next leader.

He says candidate screening is underway now through April.

The panel will forward the names of two to four finalists to the full board of trustees for consideration.

President France Cordova announced her last day on the job is July 15.
