Purdue Student Government creates safety committee in response to fatal attack

Purdue Student Government senators are moving forward with a committee focused on campus safety.

Its creation is in response to the deadly shooting and stabbing of a student last week.

PSG Vice President Meg Highley says while the new panel is in reaction to the incident, it is also necessary to try to prevent similar situations.

This committee is tasked with collecting student opinions through open forums.

Highley says the goal is to make everybody feel safe on campus and she is encouraging students to take part in the process.

Funeral today for slain Purdue student

The Purdue student killed in last week’s shooting and stabbing on campus will be laid to rest today.

The university is providing transportation for students who want to attend the funeral for 21-year-old Andrew Boldt.

Several charter buses will leave campus around 12:30pm today, to make the nearly four-hour trip up to Boldt’s hometown of West Bend, Wisconsin.

Visitation begins at 4:30 at St. Frances Cabrini Church, with the funeral to follow at seven o’clock.

Cousins' attorney has few details about the case

The attorney for the young man charged with the murder on the Purdue campus last week says he‘s waiting to hear back from the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor‘s Office on their latest findings in the case.

Robert Gevers II is representing 23-year-old Cody Cousins, who prosecutors and police say stabbed and shot 21-year-old Andrew Boldt during a class inside the Electrical Engineering Building last Tuesday.    

Gevers says it’s too early to even speculate about the case.

He says Cousins‘ family extends its condolences to the Boldt family.

Funeral arrangements set for Andrew Boldt

Funeral arrangements have been made for Andrew Boldt.

Visitation will take place from 3 to 6:30 Tuesday evening at St. Frances Cabrini Church in his hometown of West Bend, Wisconsin.

A funeral Mass is set for the same evening at seven o’clock.

The 21-year-old engineering student was killed Tuesday on Purdue’s campus.

Cody Cousins, also an engineering student, has been charged with murder.

Not guilty plea entered, bond denied for Purdue murder suspect

The suspect in the death of a Purdue student Tuesday has entered a plea of not guilty.

Cody Cousins made his initial court appearance yesterday in a courtroom at the Tippecanoe County Jail, where he is being held without bond.

He is being charged with murder in the death of Andrew Boldt.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Tippecanoe Superior Court 2, Cousins entered the Electrical Engineering building around noon Tuesday, found Boldt in a basement classroom, and proceeded to shoot and stab him.
