New regulations for Cannabidiol or CBD are meant to help consumers and law enforcement.

CBD has been legal in Indiana since March, but now it’s required to come with a QR code. It’s a type of bar code that can be scanned by a smartphone, which will take you to a page with information about the product.

Cannabidiol, or CBD oil, is one step away from legalization after lawmakers gave final approval to such legislation Wednesday.

The measure legalizes CBD oil as long as it has 0.3 percent or less THC, the ingredient in cannabis that creates a high.

State lawmakers are arguing over labeling and testing requirements for cannabidiol, or CBD, manufacturers in the final days of the 2018 session.

The Senate this session put certain labeling and testing requirements into CBD legislation. That includes a provision to require all manufacturers to submit their CBD oil to an independent lab for inspection.

Rep. Tom Washburne (R-Inglefield) says his chamber wants to minimize such requirements.

Senate Votes To Legalize Cannabidiol

Feb 5, 2018

The Indiana Senate approved legislation Monday to allow anyone in the state to buy or sell cannabidiol, or CBD.

The Senate’s bill is similar to language approved last week by the House – meaning CBD legalization appears to have a clear path forward this session.

Momentum Grows For CBD Oil Legalization

Jan 18, 2018

Legislative leaders say there’s growing momentum to legalize the controversial cannabidiol, or CBD, for all Hoosiers.

Supporters of proposed House legislation say the measure would kick start Indiana’s industrial hemp industry. The bill would conform state law with the 2014 federal farm bill, which legalized hemp product and any of its derivatives – which includes CBD.

CBD Oil: What Is It And Who Can Legally Use It

Jan 2, 2018

A bill proposed for this legislative session would legalize CBD oil for all Hoosiers.  It could also answer questions about what it is and who may use it.

Purdue University botanist Janna Beckerman agrees there is confusion about the substance that is extracted from the cannabis plant.

“When we talk about CBD oil what we’re talking about is an extract, similar to how we get mint oil by distilling it from mint,” says Beckerman.

Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill says the sale or possession of CBD – a marijuana derivative – is largely illegal in the state, except in very limited circumstances.

The legislature passed a law in 2014 legalizing industrial hemp. And in the 2017 session, lawmakers authorized the use of CBD oil, an extract from cannabis and hemp, to treat some epileptic conditions.
