UPDATE: No Foul Play Suspected In Death Of Purdue Student

The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s office says foul play is not suspected in the death of a Purdue University student.

The coroner’s office early Thursday afternoon released that information after completing an autopsy on the man.

The office says it will not identify the man at this time

Purdue University Police and the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s office are investigating the death of a male student.

Investigators released limited information Thursday morning about the student who was found dead at about 10:30 Tuesday morning.

University police report receiving a call about a man who had reportedly passed out on the first floor of Hillenbrand Hall, at 1301 Third St., West Lafayette.

According to a news release, first responders determined he was dead when they arrived.

Coroner’s office staff tell WBAA they have preliminarily identified the student, but investigators are not yet releasing that information to the public.

As of noon Thursday, however, staff could not say whether an autopsy had been scheduled.

Neither the coroner’s office nor Purdue Police has indicated the focus of the investigation, but the school’s news release states:

“As with any investigation, please contact the Purdue University Police Department at 765-494-8221 or report anonymously to 1-800-78-CRIME with any pertinent information.”
