Summit explores ways to help homeless veterans

In 2011, The Coalition for Homeless Intervention and Prevention found 20% of the homeless in Indiana were veterans.

That’s one of the statistics shared at the Homeless Veterans Summit today in West Lafayette.

The goal of the gathering is to put together a group of community partners to identify the needs of area veterans and recommend ways to provide the necessary assistance.

The summit is part of the overall “Solutions Beyond Shelter” initiative which seeks to end chronic homelessness in the Lafayette are by 2022.

It was sponsored by Purdue’s Military Family Research Institute, the city of Lafayette, and the Tippecanoe County Veterans Service Office.
