The second candidate for Purdue provost is on campus.
Debasish Dutta spoke to the university community this morning.
He is currently associate provost and dean of the graduate college at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Dutta says Purdue is poised to be a global leader in higher education, and he is excited about the opportunity to be part of the administration.
He says one of the challenges facing Purdue is finding alternative sources of revenue in the face of declining state support.
Dutta earned a PhD in from Purdue.
He is one of three finalists for the provost position.
