Rokita calls diplomatic closures "opportunity to save lives"

Congressman Todd Rokita (R-IN4) says he does not know the specifics on why some overseas, diplomatic locations have been closed down.

"I look forward to uncovering those details, in a classified manner, if I have to," he says. "Just so that I'm satisfied, as a representative of 700,000 Americans, what the real situation is."

He thinks the temporary closure of the nearly two-dozen locations shows the Obama administration is acting much differently than it did last year. Rokita says the same urgency should have been taken leading up to the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

"When an embassy gets attacked on September 11th, like the one in Benghazi did last fall, there's probably something more behind that," he says. "And for our own safety, not just of our diplomatic officials, but for the safety of all Americans, we need to really know the truth about Benghazi and this time."

Rokita made the comments during a stop in West Lafayette Monday.
