Red Cross volunteers are being honored for their efforts.
The Tippecanoe County Chapter recognized six people with its Shining Star award and Lafayette Answering Service with the Good Neighbor Award.
Volunteer Services Director Jennifer Edwards says the organization couldn’t function as effectively without their help.
The local Red Cross chapter currently has more than 150-volunteers.
The organization also presented a national certificate of merit to five Purdue life guards who saved a girl from drowning after cutting her head on a diving board at the Boilermakers Aquatic Center.
Edwards says this is the 15th national award given out by the Tippecanoe County Chapter since 2005.
