Purdue security panel to present findings

Purdue has completed a review of emergency practices and procedures that was prompted by the murder of a student on campus January 21st.

The ad hoc panel to evaluate security feedback solicited opinions from the university community and has identified a number of areas where improvements could be made to training, preparedness, alert, and response mechanisms.

Possibilities include making the text system “opt out” rather than “opt in,” increasing availability and awareness of mental health services, and developing a Psychological First Aid Training program.

The recommendations will be presented at a Presidents Forum tomorrow morning 8 in the Purdue Memorial Union South Ballroom.
