Purdue dedicates library after student-athlete alumnus

A Purdue graduate who helped fund nearly half of a more than $4-million project is back on the West Lafayette campus to see the finished product.

Roland Parrish contributed $2-million to renovate the library in the Krannert Building.

The business owner and former Boilermaker track star says the facility combines some of the best aspects of his Purdue experience.

He hopes the facility serves as a resource for current Boilermakers to start their careers.

The university held a dedication ceremony Friday for the Roland G. Parrish Library of Management and Economics.

It’s the first major campus facility named in honor of an African American alumnus.

Construction of the 18,000-square foot space began four years ago and opened to students in January.

It includes a financial conference room, undergraduate management communications center, and learning lab.

Parrish says he plans to keep the library up to date with the latest technology through future investments in the facility.

He owns a chain of 25 McDonald’s restaurants in North Texas.
