Purdue, Lafayette, and West Lafayette have resurrected the idea of a half marathon in the area.
This is their second attempt, after one planned for 2010 fell apart over a disagreement with the race organizer.
Now, Purdue and the cities are partnering with Tuxedo Brothers Event Management to host the Boilermaker Half-Marathon and 5-K.
President Don Carr says the problems of the past won’t have an impact on the newly planned races.
He expects thousands of people to participate and thinks the events are a way to promote the area and encourage fitness, future tourism, and business.
The races will run Saturday, October 20th beginning and ending near Ross-Ade Stadium.
