Governor Pence could be taking another step toward a presidential campaign tonight with an address to the Conservative Political Action Conference.
The annual CPAC gathering is considered a mandatory event for Republican presidential hopefuls.
Pence is one of 15 potential 2016 candidates speaking at the four-day event being held just outside of Washington DC.
He says he‘ll make a case for state-based innovation instead of federal solutions.
"I think the American people are tired of a Washington-knows-best mentality, on the left and on the right," says Pence. "And I'm going to talk about what we've been able to accomplish here in the state of Indiana when we brought state-based innovation and reform in a broad range of areas from education to health care to transportation."
Pence has yet to register in any presidential poll, and will not be included in CPAC‘s annual straw poll because organizers say he hasn‘t taken clear steps toward a campaign yet.
The governor has said he‘ll decide whether to run after Indiana‘s legislative session concludes in April.
