New Release: Great Chamber Music Chemistry

A quartet of chamber works with Music From Copland House are on a new release, Secret Alchemy, written by Pierre Jalbert. Jalbert is a professor at Rice University, and serves as one of the artistic directors of contemporary chamber ensemble Musiqa. Three world premiere recordings of Secret Alchemy, String Trio, and Crossings, joined by a new recording of his Piano Trio No. 1 are on this Copland House Blend Recording. WBAA's John Clare spoke to Pierre about this stunning release.

Jalbert’s close association with Copland House began in 1999, and included two Residency Awards, the Copland House/Borromeo Quartet Award, and the Copland House-Hoff Barthelson Music School Commission. Music from Copland House’s New York Premiere in 2001 of his Piano Trio No. 1 was the first of many performances the ensemble has given of that and other Jalbert works, including the world premiere of Crossings, which it commissioned.

John Nasukaluk Clare is comfortable behind a microphone, streaming video or playing violin. A former broadcaster for NPR, John has previously worked with Voice of America, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation and stations in Texas, Kansas, Nevada, California, and Pennsylvania. In 2005, Clare earned the Deems Taylor Award from ASCAP for radio broadcasting, citing his work on 20/20 Hearing. Having performed with famed tenors Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli, John has worked with the Mozart Festival Texas, Mid Texas Symphony, Nevada Chamber Symphony, Shreveport Symphony, Abilene Philharmonic and Wichita Symphony Orchestra.
