Lafayette-area residents are owed nearly $9-million by the state.

That’s according to Attorney General Greg Zoeller, who stopped at Ivy Tech Community College this morning.

He says $8,752,878 in the state’s Unclaimed Property Division belongs to people who live in and around Lafayette.

That includes money from savings and checking accounts, investment earnings, and insurance proceeds and benefits.

Zoeller says in total, the state’s unclaimed property database holds more than $400-million in assets.

He is encouraging Hoosiers to visit indianaunclaimed.org to see if any of those assets are theirs.
