The Indiana State Museum is looking for items related to the experience of Indiana‘s Jewish community. Senior vice president Susannah Koerber says the museum is in search of objects from everyday Jewish life, from sports equipment to items families brought along when they first came to America.

"They could be objects other immigrant families brought with them that maybe helped them link their original home and their new home," says Keorber. "Things that people used as part of their everyday activities."

She says the museum has extensive collections reflecting Quaker and Presbyterian heritage in Indiana, but realized it had few items related to Jewish Hoosiers.

Koerber says expanding the collection will be a multiyear effort.

She says the museum is looking at ways to make its galleries more flexible to accommodate new exhibits telling new stories.
