First provost candidate has three Purdue degrees

The first of three finalists for Purdue provost has three degrees from the university.

Christine M. Maziar earned her bachelors, masters and PhD in electrical engineering from Purdue.

She is currently vice president and senior associate provost and professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Notre Dame.

Maziar is excited about the possibility of being the senior academic administrator at her alma mater.

Two other candidates are vying for the provost job: Debasish Dutta of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Cato Laurencin of the University of Connecticut.

The successful candidate will replace Purdue Provost Tim Sands, who is leaving at the end of the year to become president of Virginia Tech.
