Final Purdue provost candidate details ideas for additional revenue

The final candidate for Purdue provost is on campus.

Dr. Cato Laurencin made a presentation to the university community this morning.

He is the chief executive officer of the Connecticut Institute for Clinical and Translational Science and director of the Institute for Regenerative Engineering, as well as being a professor at the University of Connecticut.

Laurencin says identifying alternate revenue streams is imperative considering the decline in state support.

He points to partnerships with industry as one potential source, and says a goal of his would be for every full professor to have an endowed chair covering their salary.

Two other finalists are vying for the provost position.

Christine Maziar from the University of Notre Dame and Debasish Dutta of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign were on campus last week.
