Drinking and driving targeted during Grand Prix

West Lafayette’s police chief says law enforcement will crack down on drinking and driving during Grand Prix weekend at Purdue.

Jason Dombkowski says his staff will have a sobriety check point set-up near the Village and have a zero-tolerance policy.

He says the city is using state grant money to increase efforts of curbing alcohol consumption and driving.

Crews also will set up barricades around the downtown campus area next Thursday and keep them up until Sunday morning to patrol motorist and foot traffic.

Purdue’s 55th annual running of the races is schedule for Saturday, April 21st.
