Book Review: The Martian

What happens when you are trapped alone on a foreign planet? Mark Watney, a botanist and astronaut in this week's book The Martian, unfortunately has to figure that out for himself. In a series of journal entries about his lonesome experience, we learn to love Watney's mixture of brains and brawn as he (sometimes humorously) struggles to survive. Andy Weir's novel is also now a well-received film that was released in theaters earlier this month. West Lafayette Public Library Director Nick Schenkel has a review.
