There are 17 candidates for nine open seats in Clinton County’s May primary elections. Only one is a Democrat.

This week on Ask The Mayor, we quiz Republican Chris McBarnes of Frankfort whether he thinks his party’s stranglehold on local government – while expeditious for him – might actually be hurting his ability to portray his city as forward-thinking and a desirable place to live.

Also on today’s show, the city has formed a police advisory committee. This comes on the heels of some high-profile mistakes by officers in the last year, but not necessarily as a result of them.

Still, if people are more involved in policing, can that help tamp down the loitering and graffiti the city is also trying to stanch?
