Music Director

WBAA’s classical service is seeking a Music Director who can thrill our audience on the radio and through other digital platforms with an engaging on-air presence, insightful interviewing and top-notch production.

The first half of your day will be spent on the air hosting Morning Classics, and the second half developing playlists, overseeing and expanding our classical music library, maintaining relationships with classical music record labels, conducting interviews, and producing arts-related features.

Morning Edition Host and Reporter

The successful candidate will be WBAA's local host for Morning Edition.  Host duties include editorial control of local news contact and initiating local news coverage based on analysis and interpretation of public events and issues.  Responsible for gathering, writing, editing and delivering news as well as conducting investigative news interviews, providing weather information and making editorial decisions regarding the interruption of normal programming for breaking news and severe weather warnings.  ‎


  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of experience as a news producer/reporter, feature producer and interviewer.
  • Ability to use standard broadcast audio equipment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interviewing skills.
  • General radio announcing/hosting skills.


  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications or related area.
  • Experience broadcasting in NPR/public radio style.

Additional Information:

  • Some weekend and evening work is required for this position.
  • Some travel is required for this position.
  • A background check will be required for employment in this position.
  • FLSA:  Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime)
  • Retirement Eligibility:  Defined Contribution Waiting Period.
