WBAA at Purdue University has a rare opening for an Operations Director to join our team of creative professionals who provide exceptional content to West Central Indiana on the radio and through other digital platforms.
The Operations Director is responsible for scheduling pre-recorded and live programming on all WBAA content channels including AM/FM/HD2 platforms, maintain program schedules and logs for all stations, oversee and troubleshoot broadcast transmitters and manage automation system to achieve the highest quality broadcast service.

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with at least three years of experience with public media operations, experience with broadcast automation systems, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well on a number of projects simultaneously and effectively. Statewide Business/Economy Reporter
Produce broadcast pieces for radio and online focused on business and economy and its impact on local communities across Indiana. Research complicated topics, interview expert subjects, use technical skills to light, shoot and edit interviews, write balanced pieces for broadcast and web. Charged with contributing to IPBS station websites and maintaining and building an online following around coverage of how business and economic decisions by local, state and national officials affect citizens. Interpret complex and detailed information in ways that make the material accessible and understandable, including the creation of graphics and interpretive charts. Serve as part of a team of Journalists across the state that is the region's most authoritative voice by producing original content and aggregating materials from elsewhere online. This is a limited duration position through February 2018 and continuation is contingent upon funding.
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field.
Two years of experience at a public media station as a reporter, writer, producer, editor or host.
Excellence in analysis and interpretation.
Demonstrated excellence in news judgment.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadline pressure with little supervision.
Ability to work unusual hours and extended time frames along with demonstrated experience in news and public affairs productions.
Exceptional verbal/written communication skills.
Strong broadcast writing and reporting skills along with impeccable ethics, attention to detail and knowledge of AP style.
Experience working in the digital space along with experience writing, producing and editing long-form feature stories.
Experience with spot news reporting, comfortably interviewing and hosting public radio programs in an NPR style.
Expertise in the dominant business and economy issues affecting Indiana.
Experience covering Business, Economy or similar beats.
A background check will be required for employment in this position.
