THE MEMORY OF HOPE – Aida Muluneh FOUNTAIN GALLERY Feb. 27 – Mar. 31, 2018 RECEPTION: Mar. 23 @ 5:30PM Through her bold, striking images, photographer Aïda Muluneh asks provocative questions about the life that we live as people, as nations, and as beings. Her carefully composed photographs read as poems, using symbols and painted figures to tell stories of the past, present, and future. Work from two recent series will be included: The World is 9 and The Memory of Hope. Born in Ethiopia in 1974, Aïda Muluneh grew up in Ethiopia, Yemen, England, and Canada. She holds a degree in film from Howard University. In addition to her work as an exhibiting artist, Muluneh continues her work as a photojournalist and commercial photographer; her work can be found in several international publications. Muluneh will be giving a talk on her work at 3PM on Fri., Mar. 23, in Matthews Hall room 210. She will also be attending the exhibit’s closing reception at 5:30PM on Fri., Mar. 23, in Fountain Gallery. Fountain Gallery is located at 330 Main St., Lafayette. All Purdue Galleries events and exhibitions are free and open to the public.
